  5. To work with our customers at any time of the day or night to "make it right" by them.
  6. To earn the reputation as a professional bicycle retailer.  As professionals, we have earning the right to charge retail prices for all products we sell.  As a professional, we are commitment to fairness in all our dealings and as a professional; we provide only products that will remain a great value to our customers over the long haul.
  7. To do all that we can to keep "customers for life" and constantly adapt our business practices to their needs and wishes and to deliver and give our best efforts.

Our Business Practices

At Black Bar Bicycles, we have one goal.  That goal is to serve a customer for life.  Bill and I strive to educate, to empower, to assist, and to help our customers make informed decisions about all things related to bicycling. We stand by our products and services, and we always strive to do "the right thing".

The services and products we provide have been researched and tested by us and we feel they are the best available in today’s marketplace.  Bill and I are not satisfied with the status quo, however, and we continually press our partners for better products and services.  The bikes we sell are all very high quality, and we would actually own and ride any bike we sell, from the bottom to the top of the line. Bill and I feel that it is important for us to promote products that have a level of quality and performance that is good enough for us to be proud of if it were ours.

We take the experience of years of racing, riding and fitting, and distill it into good, practical advice.  Our customers rely on us to do the research so they can spend the limited time they have on the bike. This is the way we like it, too.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy at Black Bar Bicycles is simple: we want to develop customers for life.  Bill and I would rather build a “customer relationship” for the long term than to focus on building sales volume and success over the short run.  Our customers tend to be focused, successful, and driven to improve every aspect of their lives.  We want to assist them in attaining the best from cycling.  At Black Bar Bicycles we focus on what we do best. This is in fitting, analysis and the procurement of the best road, mountain bike, motocross and triathlon equipment we can find.  We don't carry anything that we would not personally use, and this limits our inventory to the high end bicycles both in cost and value.

We find that this sport is very much a "get what you pay for" endeavor. This means that the better components and equipment not only cost more, but will hold their value better, last longer and perform better. This is why we take great pains to educate our customers.  Our customers know what the product ranges are, what the price ranges are, and the expected performance.  Since we want to provide the best value for every dollar spent, we are careful to suggest the correct product or service rather than the one that may be easiest to provide in the short term.

We take the time that is required to do the best job for our customers.  It is not uncommon for us to spend many hours in planning prior to a bicycle purchase, particularly since most of our frames have custom features.  We help with all the details like the perfect color and style, as we know that this bike will last a long time and needs to be as desirable 15 years from now as it is today.  If one spends up to 20 hours a week on a bike, it must be "right".

At Black Bar Bicycles we spend up to six hours building up a new bicycle.  Everything is meticulously inspected and documented.  We want to make sure that we have done everything we could to approach perfection in the buildup of a customer's personal bicycle.  This commitment to excellence is what characterizes everything we do.  We do not compromise on our personal cycling choices and goals, so why would we compromise for a customer?
